SIPware™ Voice Mail & Unified Messaging
Call Answering
SIPware Voice Mail will record a message for a subscriber who is using the phone or cannot answer the call. It can play the subscriber's personal greeting, or a system greeting if that is preferred. The caller has the option to send, re-record, review and mark the message urgent.
The subscriber can record his or her personal greeting over the phone and can choose a PIN for accessing the account.

Unified Messaging
SIPware Unified Messaging provides fully integrated Web and phone access to a unified message store for voice mail and e-mail. Subscribers can send, receive, reply and forward messages using either a phone or Web interface.

Sending Messages
A subscriber can send a message to any other subscriber or to an e-mail address using the Web interface or the phone. A subscriber can also reply to a message received from another subscriber or e-mail address.

When sending a message over the phone for delivery to an e-mail address, the message is sent as an audio attachment. The audio is encoded using a wave file which can be played via the Windows Media Player on Win32 platforms.

Since the SIPware VM/UM messaging architecture is based on LDAP and SMTP, there are no system boundaries for sending a message to another subscriber or to any Internet user.

Retrieving Messages
A subscriber can retrieve messages using the Web interface or any phone. Messages can be played, saved and erased. Using the web interface, a subscriber can play voicemail messages via the PC speakers.

When playing an e-mail message via the phone, a subscriber hears complete message information-the sender's name, number or e-mail address, the sending date and time, the message priority and the subject line.

Forwarding Messages
By using the Web interface or the phone, a subscriber can forward a message to another number or to an e-mail address. The subscriber can record an introduction to the forwarded message. When forwarding to an e-mail address, the introduction is sent as a voice attachment.

Integrated Personal Address Book
Subscribers to Unified Messaging have the ability to create and manage a list of contacts in a Personal Address Book (PAB). The address book is private to the subscriber. The subscriber can upload contacts from many popular PC e-mail products, as well as using a comma-separated value (CSV) format.

Contacts listed in the address book are available to the subscriber when sending and forwarding messages via the Web interface or the phone. Using the phone, the subscriber chooses a contact by entering the first few letters of the last name.

Placing Outgoing Calls
When using SIPware VM/UM via the phone, a subscriber can place an outgoing call from the main menu. The subscriber can enter any 10-digit telephone number or can call using the Personal Address Book. To call using the PAB, the subscriber inputs the first few letters of the name of the recipient. The PAB supports three phone numbers: work, home and cell. If there is more than one entry, a submenu is presented to the subscriber asking which phone number to call.

The caller ID is also captured when receiving a message via the Call Answering application and associates the number with the message. This allows the subscriber to reply to the caller with a telephone call. If the sender of the message is another SIPware VM/UM subscriber, the reply can be either via a message or via a telephone call, at the message recipient's choosing.

Message Notification
A subscriber of a new message using a variety of notification mechanisms. SIPware VM/UM is able to notify a subscriber:

By sending an Instant Message (IM) to the registered AOL IM account or via MSN Messenger.
Notification via IM is particularly powerful for dial-up users, as it allows a subscriber to get
instant notification of a message deposit and to retrieve the message via the Web, all without
having to disconnect from the online session.
By sending a Short Message/Text Message to the subscriber's wireless phone. SIPware UM/VM also works with SMDI notification, which is used to provide interrupted dial tone in
wireline networks.
By notifying a subscriber via Pager notification, if the paging company supports either HTTP
or SMTP paging messages.
