RapidFLEX™ Media Server
The RapidFLEX Media Server is a software-based, IP media server that offloads media processing functions in SIP-compliant carrier networks. The Soft Media Server can support a variety of SIP-compliant entities, including softswitches, media gateways, IP phones, proxy servers, redirect servers, and user agents, (including application servers). It can be deployed as a stand-alone, IP-based media server solution in a SIP-enabled network or used in conjunction with the RapidFLEX Application Server to deliver Pactolus SIPware™ services.

The RapidFLEX Media Server supports a variety of media processing functions, including announcement generation, DTMF detection and generation, message play and record, conference recording, audio bridging for small n-way conferences, and other advanced capabilities. These functions can be logically combined and embedded in a service logic execution environment to implement a wide variety of basic and enhanced services, including playing announcements, calling card, conference calling, interactive voice response, and voice messaging, as well as custom-built applications.

RapidFLEX Media Server advantages include:

Cost-effective Software Implementation — The RapidFLEX Media Server software runs on industry-standard hardware, offering a lower cost per port than DSP-based IP media servers.

Future-Proof Solution — Support for open SIP call control standards with VoiceXML or MGCP media handling protects against obsolescence.

Compatible with Next Generation and Legacy Networks Can be deployed as a directly accessible media processing resource in SIP-enabled networks or configured in combination with a SIP-enabled media gateway to provide services to PSTN-connected endpoints.

Compact Footprint — Supports up to 200 media processing endpoints on a 1RU height, rack-mounted Linux computer-enabling incremental scaling in capacity.

Carrier Grade — NEBS-compliant computing platforms are available for central office deployments.
