PACTOLUS AND CONVEDIA COMPLETE INTEROPERABILITY TESTING WITH VERAZ NETWORKS TO DELIVER ENHANCED VOICE SERVICES FOR PACKET NETWORKS

Carriers can deliver network-wide, pre-paid calling card and conference calling services to multiple locations

GENEVA, October 14, 2003

Veraz Networks, a leading global provider of carrier-grade next-generation telephony solutions, announces the successful completion of interoperability testing with Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based enhanced service solutions, and Convedia, the leading provider of carrier-class media processing platforms. The completed testing featured Veraz’s open softswitch and media gateway platform along with Pactolus’s enhanced voice services and Convedia’s IP media servers for wireline and wireless networks. This successful testing demonstrates opportunities available for service providers to generate revenue and gain more subscribers by installing a turnkey next-generation solution network-wide, in a matter of weeks without months of vendor integration.

As members of the Veraz Open Systems Alliance (VOSA) program, Pactolus and Convedia completed interoperability testing with Veraz ControlSwitch and I-Gate products to ensure a reliable, end-to-end telephony solution that will accelerate the deployment of an IP-centric network and revenue-generating enhanced services such as conferencing and pre-paid. Also, this pre-tested telephony solution can be deployed network-wide in multiple cities and countries due to Veraz network’s support of different country variations of SS7 and PRI protocols.

"The industry seeks turnkey, pre-tested solutions and we’re very pleased to interoperate with a vendor like Veraz that understands, like us, the importance of openness and multi-vendor support," said Kenneth Osowski, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Pactolus. "By introducing end-to-end solutions, carriers will reap the benefits promised by packet-based networks, such as the ability to launch new revenue-generating services, reduce churn and remain competitive."

"When migrating or expanding to an IP network, a carrier shouldn’t be concerned with trying to integrate several platforms together to offer the most flexible telephony solution to its customers," said Grant Henderson, Vice President of Marketing at Convedia. "We want to make sure that we are compatible with the ControlSwitch and I-Gate family of Veraz products, which are well recognized by the industry and driving some of the largest VoIP deployments in the world."

As part of the interoperability testing, Pactolus provided ready-to-deploy calling services, SIPware™ services based on its RapidFLEX™ Application Server platform. The enhanced pre-paid and post-paid calling services included calling card, conference calling, and unified messaging. Convedia provided its CMS-6000 IP media server, which can scale up to 18,000 media ports and supports all the leading protocols as well as next-generation telephony applications. Veraz’s carrier-class Packet Telephony solution rounded out the partner testing with the Veraz ControlSwitch, which is the de facto open softswitch platform for supporting multi-vendor solutions and the I-Gate 4000 line of high-density media gateways leveraging sophisticated in-house DSP technology that responds quickly to future customization and flexibility needs as a network grows.

"As a vendor of multi-service and multi-vendor open solutions, it is important for us to actively collaborate with partners that provide proven open telephony solutions like Pactolus and Convedia," said R. Paul Singh, VP, Business Development, Veraz Networks. "As pre-paid and conferencing services become increasingly popular amongst carriers and their customers, Veraz can respond with a ready-to-deploy, pre-tested solution that is up and running in minimal time and can support multiple locations in different countries concurrently."
