TOUCH AMERICA DEPLOYS MULTIPLE PACTOLUS SERVICES AS KEY COMPONENTS OF CONVERGED NETWORK BUILD OUT

SIPware Prepaid Calling Card and SIPware Calling Card Deliver High Value Services In Touch America Network

Butte, Mont. and Westborough, MA, October 31, 2001 -

Touch America, the broadband network and service provider subsidiary of The Montana Power Company, announced today it will use the Pactolus Communications Software RapidFLEXT Application Server and SIPwareT Calling Card services in its advanced Voice over IP (VoIP) network. Used in combination with high-end media gateways, Pactolus' SIPware Services provide a cost-effective "enhanced services offload" alternative to deploying expensive, single-application enhanced services platforms and dedicated TDM overlay network elements.

"We have made a commitment to build our advanced network around Voice over IP, converged network infrastructure in order to provide our customers the advanced services that these network elements enable," said Mike Meldahl, president and chief operating officer, Touch America. "In partnering with Pactolus, we are able to deliver these advanced services now, and also pursue other high value services that can be quickly developed and cost effectively deployed to meet emerging market opportunities."

"We are extremely pleased to have been chosen by Touch America -a service provider with a long history of building advanced telecom networks -to deploy our calling card solutions," said Dave Horton, President, CTO, and founder of Pactolus. "Pure-IP services platforms will ultimately replace TDM-based solutions as the benefits of these platforms are realized by service providers. The Touch America network is another proof point that will help establish this approach as a viable alternative to legacy solutions."
