Pactolus Intros RapidFLEX 6.0 Service Creation and Delivery Platform with 100% IMS/3GPP Compliance
Comprehensive IMS Extensions, SIP Dialog Support and Flexible Media Control Make RapidFLEX SCE Industry's Easiest-to-use SIP/IMS Development Environment.
BOSTON and MARLBOROUGH Mass. - September 12, 2006 -
Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, makers of the telecom industry's most broadly deployed and comprehensive VoIP applications portfolio, today introduced RapidFLEX 6.0, a new generation of its standard-based, pure-IP RapidFLEX Service Creation and Delivery Platform now deployed in 50+ leading service networks. The new release includes 100% IMS compliance for the RapidFLEX Service Creation Environment, RapidFLEX Application Server and software-based RapidFLEX Media Server, and new supported features that let service providers deploy comprehensive multimodal, multimedia IP services far more easily, quickly and economically than with competitive service delivery platforms. RapidFLEX 6.0 was introduced today at the VON Fall Show in Boston, Mass. at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center.
"The new era of advanced IP services has been slow to arrive, due in no small part to SIP's complexities, the time and effort needed to integrate rich media and usability features to ignite subscribers, and the validation processes essential to ensure the life span and extensibility of new services," noted Brian Partridge, Senior Analyst, Yankee Group. "Pactolus is helping to resolve these critical issues by simplifying the development of multimedia services."
Ali Argun, network developer for Saudi Arabia's Rawabi Telecom, notes: "The new RapidFLEX totally by-passes the complexities of Java-based and C++ environments, and is the first SCE/SDP we've seen that gives us a full library of rich objects to graphically create exciting and scaleable services in Internet time."
RapidFLEX 6.0 incorporates industry-leading innovations such as:
- IMS Diameter support enabling the RapidFLEX Application Server to interface to an HSS,
- 3GPP technical specification conformance including the Sh interface for subscriber information access and the Ro/Rf interfaces for offline charging,
- SIP dialog support added to the RapidFLEX SCE that greatly simplifies the development of carrier-ready applications using SIP protocol with IMS extensions, and
- SIP/MSML control of media server resources added through the use of a new RapidFLEX SCE object layer that insulates application developers from diverse industry support mechanisms for various media resource control functions.
Pactolus CTO David Horton concludes: "Carriers are now in the planning stages for new generations of enhanced services applications that unite wireline, wireless and broadband networks, and leverage high-value rich media content. RapidFLEX 6.0 features the first usability-driven Service Creation Environment, and couples unparalleled rich feature support with the service unification technologies and compliance features that help carriers turn today's subscribers into lifelong customers."
