PACTOLUS INTRODUCES PREPAID BROADBAND TELEPHONY

Gives Service Providers Ability to Offer Consumers Alternate Billing Options and Avoid Fixed Monthly Bills

Westborough, MA - October 18, 2004 -

Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based voice services, today announced that it is adding prepaid billing to its commercially successful SIPwareT Broadband Telephony application running on the RapidFLEXT Application Server. Unlike fixed-price VoIP services offered currently by VoIP service providers, prepaid billing allows consumers to avoid fixed recurring monthly costs and match their call usage to exactly what they pay for. This gives the subscriber the most control in maximizing their overall telecommunications savings, especially if they have deployed broadband telephony to augment existing services.

Pactolus utilizes SIP, the emerging standard for IP voice services, to deliver IP-based solutions that allow telecommunications carriers and service providers to drive down their costs and accelerate time-to-market of high-value services.

"Our pure-IP, multi-application services platform once again demonstrates its versatility in addressing emerging market trends," said Dave Horton, President and CTO of Pactolus. "Service providers can now expand their business models to include a prepaid billing model as well as the traditional unlimited calling plans currently offered by the well known VoIP service providers."

Pactolus pioneered the SIP-based prepaid calling card capabilities that it is integrating into the SIPware Broadband Telephony application. Pactolus has deployed over 12 billion minutes of SIP-based revenue generating services in service provider networks including several Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers. Pactolus commercially deployed services currently include prepaid calling card, post paid calling card, audio conference calling, operator assistance, and IP telephony for broadband networks.

SIPware Broadband Telephony with prepaid billing capabilities will be available Q1 2005. The SIPware Broadband Telephony software release with post paid billing is currently available.
