Pactolus Intros InService™ High Availability Software To Prevent IP Voice Service Session Loss
First Multi-site IP Voice Services Architecture Resolves Common 'Single Points of Failure to Redefine Industry's Scale, Stability and Economics Benchmarks.
Marlborough, Mass., January 17, 2006 -
Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, the leading developer of Class 4/5 SIP-based IP voice services, today introduced its InService™ multi-site high availability software as an optional component for its widely-deployed SIPware™ Audio Conferencing application. This capability enables carriers to achieve unprecedented resiliency and fastest-achievable recovery speeds for highly scaled, geographically disperse deployments. InService helps network operators and service providers ensure uninterrupted subscriber service delivery in the event of IP network component failures or extraordinary disruption events, such as the failure of an entire service point of presence (POP).
"Momentary IP service outages can be particularly apparent in hosted multi-user service sessions. Even a fraction of a second's interruption can force all audio conference participants to terminate and restart a call session, which is why many established carriers have balked at offering IP-based conferencing services, despite their obvious economic, flexibility and innovation advantages," notes analyst Deb Mielke of Treilage. "By addressing this need, Pactolus opens important new doors for IP service delivery for both new and established service providers."
Bringing New Resiliency to SIP Services Architectures
InService is a 100% software-based high availability component that gives SIP-based subscriber services the new ability to be intelligently managed and automatically sustained across multiple, geographically-dispersed service points of presence simultaneously. InService incorporates industry firsts such as:
- Load balancing of service-enabling resources, including application server and media server resources, across multiple geographically-dispersed service POPs;
- Real-time re-routing of call traffic across multiple sites around media gateway, application server, and media server failures;
- Failover of database processing to alternative service POPs; and
- Failover of all call processing to alternative service POPs in the event of primary site failure.
As a result, InService gives Pactolus applications such as its SIPware Conferencing service new multi-site architecture advantages to:
- Sustain both overall service call capacity and individual call states in the event of a myriad of common and extraordinary IP component/network failure conditions;
- Replace complex, delay-centric system management intervention with automated, real-time call re-routing; and
- Optimize ongoing utilization of all service-enabling resources and investments
Should a service-enabling resource or network element such as a media gateway, media server or data base fail, InService triggers traffic redirection to its corresponding required remote resource, without disrupting calls in process. Its unique load balancing and intelligence enables InService to counteract the single points of failure that large carriers must abate as sources of potential call state disruption.
Availability
InService will be generally available to service providers in Q1 '06.
