Westborough, MA and New York, NY October 8, 2002 -
Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based services solutions for converged networks announced today that its SIPwareT Prepaid Calling Card application and RapidFLEXT Application Server are commercially operational in Epana Networks' converged network. Epana Networks Inc., a New York-based CLEC and managed metro Ethernet service provider, has deployed Pactolus products to offer domestic and international Prepaid Services to customers nationwide. Epana Prepaid Services enable calling card subscribers to place domestic long distance and international calls to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and other countries at very affordable rates. The Pactolus RapidFLEX Application Server environment hosting the service is connected to the Epana Networks infrastructure using the SIP signaling protocol.
"Pactolus products have proven to be extremely flexible in adapting to our aggressive plans for marketing to multiple constituents in our serving markets," said Elie Seidman, Founder and CEO of Epana Networks. "Pactolus product flexibility has allowed us to deliver a full-featured prepaid calling card service in the native languages of our target market customers such as Chinese and Spanish in a matter of weeks. This in combination with our ability to route calls using our converged fiber-based network has allowed us to execute flawlessly on our business plan."
"Epana Networks came to Pactolus with a plan to bring a comprehensive prepaid calling card service to the market in a very short period of time," said Paul Blondin, Chairman and CEO of Pactolus. "Our open, IP-based services architecture was able to readily integrate with Epana Networks' converged network elements. And with the RapidFLEX environment now in place, Epana will be able to easily add other brand new services such as conference calling over the same IP-based voice services infrastructure."
