Dot Hill's SANnet II Selected For Pactolus' SIPware Enhanced Voice Services

Prepaid Calling Card, Calling Card and Conference Calling Provide High Value Services in Converged Networks

CARLSBAD, Calif. and WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - August 19, 2003 -

Dot Hill (NASDAQ: HILL) announced today that it has been selected as the storage technology partner of Pactolus Communications Software Corporation. Pactolus provides carrier-ready enhanced voice applications for converged TDM/IP and VoIP networks. Pactolus is integrating Dot Hill's carrier-class SANnet® II data storage into its open protocol/API, Unix-based software solutions.

Pactolus offers a suite of enhanced services for deployment in wireline and wireless carrier networks called SIPwareT Services, built upon the RapidFLEXT platform. These services include calling card, prepaid calling, conferencing, operator assistance, voice mail, unified messaging, customized interactive voice response applications, and toll-free services. The RapidFLEX software platform includes an application server, service creation environment (SCE), element management system, subscriber self-service portals, high availability features, and other components in an open, extensible software framework.

Jeff Gibson, Pactolus' vice president of engineering said, "We selected SANnet II because it is NEBS Level 3 certified, which provides the reliability and ruggedness that our customers require, and its compact size is well-suited to our solution. SANnet II is a great complement to our software solutions, and gives our service provider customers a choice of using these storage elements with either Linux or Solaris computers."

"Pactolus has developed a solution that allows its customers to cost-effectively deploy a variety of telecommunications services," said Dana Kammersgard, chief technology officer for Dot Hill. "Because the SANnet II is a carrier-class system, it ensures the high availability required by Pactolus' service provider customers."

The SANnet II family of storage solutions provides industry-leading 99.9998+ percent uptime in a compact, rugged system. SANnet II combines high availability features, certifications for telecommunications and the military, and no single points of failure to virtually eliminate downtime. The common modular architecture of the SANnet II product family provides seamless scalability for future growth.

All SANnet II products feature hot-swappable, field-replaceable components including drives, controllers, power supplies, fans and event monitoring units. This product line meets MIL-STD-810F standards for the U.S. Department of Defense and is certified to the telecommunications industry NEBS Level 3 standard.
