CONVEDIA AND PACTOLUS PARTNER TO DELIVER POWERFUL ENHANCED SERVICES SOLUTION FOR PACKET TELEPHONY NETWORKS
Combination of best-in-class products offers service providers a highly scalable service creation and execution platform for conferencing, call center, and card services
Westborough, Mass. and Vancouver, British Columbia, March 20, 2001 -
Pactolus Communications Software, the leading provider of XML-based enhanced services solutions for SIP-enabled networks, and Convedia Corporation, the leading supplier of softswitch compliant media servers announced today they have teamed up to deliver the industry's most scalable enhanced services platform for deployment in next generation telephony networks. The two companies are working closely to integrate Convedia's CMS-6000 Media Server and the Pactolus RapidFLEX TM Application Server. The combined product offering will allow service providers to rapidly migrate existing PSTN enhanced services to their packet telephony networks as well as quickly create and deploy brand new, customized services with the Pactolus RapidFLEX Service Creation Environment. Interoperability testing is currently underway and will be completed in April 2001. Early customer deployments will focus on media-intensive application environments including conference calling, call centers, toll free number services, directory services, card services and other trunk-side services.
"As carriers build out their VoIP network infrastructure, they are choosing products that embody open standards, allowing them to pick the best-of-breed software and hardware network elements," said Gordon Arthur, vice president of business development at Pactolus. The standard-centric designs of both the Convedia and Pactolus products enable them to fit together seamlessly and gives service providers for the first time an open, carrier-class services solution for their converged networks."
"We've been very impressed with how quickly new applications and services can be created using the Pactolus RapidFLEX service creation tools," said Grant Henderson, vice president of product management and marketing at Convedia. "By adding support for the CMS-6000 to their RapidFLEX products, Pactolus and it's customers are now better able to cost effectively deploy and scale these solutions in large converged networks. Also, their use of SIP and MGCP in their product architecture has allowed for a smooth integration of the two product environments."
