PACTOLUS ALL-IN-ONE BROADBAND IP TELEPHONY SOLUTION OPENS UP RESIDENTIAL AND SMB MARKET TO SERVICE PROVIDERS
USA Datanet Chooses 100% Software Implementation to Provide Primary Line Voice Services with Key Line Side Features and Regulatory Compliance
Westborough, MA, March 30, 2004 -
Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based voice services, announced today the SIPwareT Broadband Telephony all-in-one solution for service providers. Pactolus utilizes SIP, the emerging standard for IP voice services, to deliver a 100% software implementation that significantly reduces costs and accelerates time-to-market for service providers who are deploying broadband-based IP telephony services to residential and small-to-medium sized business (SMB) customers.
"The introduction of our broadband telephony products marks the next generation of services from Pactolus," said Paul Blondin, Chairman and CEO of Pactolus. "We are very excited to announce that our first customer for this solution is USA Datanet, with whom we have worked very closely over the last year while they deployed our services platform. Our technology was selected because it meets the multi-service, scalability and feature requirements they need to aggressively pursue their business plan. With our products until now focusing on providing 'trunk side' services behind media gateways utilizing SIP, we can now provide service providers like USA Datanet 'line side' services that totally complement our enhanced service offerings.
With broadband penetration approaching 50% of the U.S. residential market and demand accelerating for low-cost IP telephony, Pactolus provides the means for service providers to quickly respond to this new market opportunity. Juniper Research this month reported that residential Voice-over-IP services alone are forecasted to reach $16 billion by 2009, as this technology takes over from traditional circuit-switched voice, driven by lower operating costs and competition between incumbents and new licensed operators.
The SIPware Broadband Telephony service is a turnkey, software-based solution for deploying primary and secondary line voice services over broadband networks and can replace many different hardware components such as border elements, session controllers, and DSP-based IP media servers.
Subscribers of the service can make IP-originated calls to other IP phones or to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), and receive calls through a PSTN-provisioned phone number. Key class 5 call features include caller id, call waiting, call forwarding, call blocking, 3-way calling, and voice mail. Subscribers can access and control any of these features through traditional phone DTMF interfaces or an easy-to-use, self-service Web portal. Service providers can deploy the service using either prepaid or post paid billing mechanisms by integrating commercially proven SIPware Pre-paid and Post Paid Calling Card services. They can also integrate other available SIPware Services such as conference calling and operator assistance to deliver a scalable, comprehensive service bundle.
SIPware Broadband Telephony will be available from Pactolus in 'Q3 2004. Pricing will adhere to a capacity licensing model as opposed to a subscriber model, making this a very compelling value proposition for service providers.
