Westborough, MA - October 19, 2004 -
Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based voice services, today announced that Alestra, one of a leading providers of broadband, IP data and voice services in Mexico, has chosen Pactolus' RapidFLEXT Application Server, IP Media Server, and SIPwareT services to deploy its new Prepaid and Post Paid Calling Card solutions.
Pactolus utilizes SIP, the emerging standard for IP voice services, to deliver IP-based solutions that allow telecommunications carriers and service providers to drive down the cost and accelerate time-to-market of high-value services.
"We are very pleased that Alestra has chosen Pactolus products for their next generation calling card services," said Paul Blondin, Chairman and CEO of Pactolus. "Alestra stringently evaluated us based upon functionality, scalability, and reliability requirements already established by a prepaid calling card business built on a legacy TDM-based calling card platform that was discontinued. We were able to win this business by showing that our SIP-based solution could surpass their expectations and help them expand their business to new distribution channels."
"Alestra is committed to provide advanced Data and Telecommunication Services with the highest standards of Quality in our market," said Alejandro Irigoyen, Vice President of Network Operations & Systems. "Our strategy is to work with our customers and our technology vendors, such as Pactolus, to develop solutions that will positively impact both the end-user experience and the way our customers do business."
"We did an exhaustive evaluation of various calling card platforms and related technology and selected the Pactolus IP-based platform to provide us with a solution for our specific technological needs, which are driven by detailed requirements from our customer base", said Adrian Cuadros, Chief Technology Officer of Alestra. "Pactolus provided evidence that their products are flexible and operational in large commercial deployments. We are currently testing the system customization developed for Alestra before integrating Pactolus technology into our production network. We will use their technology integrated with POS (Point-of-sale) terminals to reach new calling card distribution channels through large retail store chains throughout Mexico."
