PACTOLUS REACHES 12 BILLION MINUTES OF SIP-BASED SERVICES CAPACITY IN SERVICE PROVIDER NETWORKS

Service Deployments Include Tier 1 ILECs, CLECs, Regional Carriers, and CSPs (Conferencing Service Providers)

Westborough, MA - October 13, 2004 -

Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based voice services, today announced that the total worldwide deployment of it's SIPwareT services suite has reached 12 billion minutes of annual network capacity in service provider networks including several Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers. These service deployments cover a broad range of revenue generating services including prepaid calling card, post paid calling card, audio conference calling, and IP telephony for broadband networks (primary line VoIP). Substantial customer and revenue growth has made 2004 a milestone year for Pactolus, resulting in the company becoming cash flow positive during the year.

Pactolus utilizes SIP, the emerging standard for IP voice services, to deliver IP-based solutions that allow telecommunications carriers and service providers to drive down the cost and accelerate time-to-market of high-value services. Pactolus has deployed its SIPware applications across a customer base including Tier 1 Independent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs) and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers, Regional Carriers and Conferencing Service Providers (CSPs).

Several Pactolus customers have deployed its SIP-based solution behind a PSTN-to-IP media gateway, which allows service providers to sell services to PSTN-based subscribers with an IP-based voice services framework. This approach has been successfully taken by many Pactolus customers deploying calling card services. Other service providers have deployed multiple services from Pactolus or integrated Pactolus solutions with existing services. USA Datanet in Syracuse, New York has deployed both post paid calling card services and broadband IP telephony from Pactolus. WebEx Communications has integrated Pactolus audio conferencing to augment existing solutions with a lower cost, more flexible IP-based audio conferencing platform.

"We have clearly proven both the technical and commercial aspects of deploying our services in service provider networks over the last several years," said Paul Blondin, Chairman and CEO of Pactolus. "Initially we deployed services solely in conjunction with a softswitch and media gateway. But now, as broadband networks are becoming a common way to make VoIP calls and to access voice services, there is increasing demand for bundled Pactolus solutions that help service providers stay competitive as VoIP replaces TDM-based technology."
