PACTOLUS COMPLETES SIP INTEROPERABILITY TESTING WITH SONUS NETWORKS

Attains "Powered Partner" Status for Proven Integration with Sonus Products

WESTFORD, Mass., March 19, 2001 -

Pactolus Communications Software, the leading provider of XML-based enhanced services solutions for SIP-enabled networks announced that it has successfully completed SIP interoperability tests with Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a leading provider of voice infrastructure solutions for the new public network. An extensive test environment was set up to include testing of the Pactolus RapidFLEXTM Application Server and Prepaid Calling Card application. Pactolus is one of the first in a group of companies to complete SIP testing with the Sonus PSX6000TM SoftSwitch and GSX9000TM Open Services Switch.

"Pactolus has been an extremely active participant in our OSPA program," said Terri Griffin, vice president of marketing, INtelligentIPâ division, Sonus Networks. "Their trunk-side application focus continues to be a very compelling value proposition to our carrier customers as VoIP networks are getting built from the inside-out. As these carriers complete installation of core network elements using Sonus solutions they are now looking for the kinds of services Pactolus is building including prepaid calling card, toll-free number services, and conference calling."

"Our technical and business partnership with Sonus has resulted in making a full featured Application Server environment available to carriers installing SIP-enabled networks," said Gordon Arthur, vice president of business development at Pactolus. "The GSX9000 Open Services Switch with its open architecture and adherence to the latest VoIP protocols including SIP and MGCP has enabled both of us to quickly assemble a complete services solution for carriers."

Sonus Networks has worked in partnership with Pactolus since April 2000 to help carriers quickly create and deploy new revenue generating services through Sonus' Open Services ArchitectureTM (OSA). The Pactolus RapidFLEX SCE has provided an XML-based, "drag-and-drop" visual development environment for the Sonus PSX6000 SoftSwitch. By using the SCE and Pactolus' eXtensible Telephony Markup Language (XTML), Sonus customers can quickly create and deploy new services on the Sonus SoftSwitch, including specialized routing, custom call flows, voice announcements and calling services.
