PACTOLUS EXPANDS IP MEDIA SERVER PRODUCTS WITH BEST-OF-BREED OPTIONS

Both Software and Hardware-based IP-based Media Server Products Give Service Providers Cost-effective Alternatives with Multi-protocol, Multi-service Flexibility

Westborough, MA, January 28, 2003 -

Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based service solutions announced today the immediate availability of both hardware and software-based IP media server products. For service providers desiring a software-based media server implementation, the Pactolus developed RapidFLEX™ Soft Media Server is available on commercial, off-the-shelf hardware, and sets a new standard for scalability amongst software media servers. For service providers desiring the additional scalability and performance available from DSP-based media servers, Pactolus provides the best-in-class hardware-based IP media server products from Convedia Corporation of Vancouver, BC, Canada (www.convedia.com). Both products are fully integrated with Pactolus’ network-proven SIPware™ Services suite that includes card services and audio conferencing services, both available as either prepaid or postpaid billed service offerings. These ready-to-deploy service solutions include DTMF and web-based user interfaces, IP-based voice response resources, prepaid billing, media gateway connectivity, flexible service creation, and platform / subscriber administration.

RapidFLEX Soft Media Server

The RapidFLEX™ Soft Media Server product can be deployed in combination with the Pactolus RapidFLEX Application Server running SIPware Services or as a stand-alone IP-based media server solution to support SIP entities throughout a SIP-enabled network. The RapidFLEX Soft Media Server provides best-in-class performance, supporting up to 200 full duplex IVR sessions with DTMF detection on a single processor. Key features supported by the RapidFLEX Soft Media Server include announcement generation, DTMF detection and generation, message play and record, multiple language support, multiple audio codec capability, 3-way audio bridging, and other advanced features. Available for both Linux and Solaris environments, this software-only media server offers service providers a cost-effective solution on industry standard computer platforms. A full range of open protocols are supported including SIP protocol control with VoiceXML 2.0 media handling, giving service providers a future-proof solution for deploying media processing in their IP-network infrastructure. The RapidFLEX Soft Media Server is ideally suited for calling card services and other applications that only require IVR and announcement resources.

Convedia CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 IP Media Server Products

For scalable audio conferencing service deployments and deployment of multiple Pactolus SIPware Services in a service provider network, Pactolus has integrated the highly scalable chassis-based Convedia CMS-6000 and small footprint CMS-1000 IP media server products. The CMS-6000 can easily handle both calling card services and audio conferencing deployments that scale to many thousand ports (endpoints) in a single chassis configuration. The CMS-1000 can be configured with up to 300 ports in a mixed application environment and the CMS-6000 scales up to 18,000 ports. Key features that are supported by the CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 through Pactolus SIPware Services include announcement generation, DTMF detection and generation, message play and record, multiple language support, multiple audio codec capability with transcoding, 3-way and multi-way audio bridging, and other advanced features. Pactolus can also configure Convedia products to be used in conjunction with the RapidFLEX Soft Media Server in conferencing deployments to offload IVR and announcements in order to maximize audio bridging utilization on the Convedia media servers.
